5000 Kaji Nemu exported to London: In a significant stride towards expanding its agricultural footprint on the global stage, Assam celebrated the export of 5,000 Assam Lemons (Kaji Nemu) and 500 kg of lablab beans (Urohi) to London on Wednesday, December 27. The event, marked by a virtual flag-off ceremony, was attended by Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, underscoring the state’s growing prominence in the international market.
The Lablab Beans, sourced from the diligent efforts of farmers associated with Dihingparia Farmers’ Producer Company (FPC) in Nitaipukhuri, Sivasagar district, showcased the agricultural prowess of the region. Simultaneously, the special quality lemons were cultivated in Tinsukia district, adding diversity and uniqueness to Assam’s export basket.
Minister Atul Bora, expressing his enthusiasm on the accomplishment, took to the social media platform Twitter to share his thoughts. He credited the success to the strong leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, acknowledging the pivotal role played by the farmers in venturing into foreign markets. Bora stated, “Under the strong leadership of HCM Dr @himantabiswa, the farmers of Assam have been able to forge into foreign markets.”
He went on to express confidence in the continuation of this positive trend, emphasizing that an increase in crop exports would pave the way for a new revolution in the agricultural economy of Assam. Bora’s comments reflected a vision of sustainable growth and economic empowerment for the state’s farming community, made possible through strategic leadership and collaborative efforts.
