Filmfare Awards Assamese 2024: The vibrant Assamese film industry recently celebrated its talents and achievements at the prestigious inaugural edition of the Filmfare Awards Assamese 2024. Held in collaboration with the Jeewan Ram Mungi Devi Goenka Memorial Public Charitable Trust, the event was a remarkable showcase of cinematic excellence. The glittering ceremony took place at the esteemed Taj Vivanta in Guwahati on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

This inaugural gala aimed to honor the best of Assamese cinema released between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. Hosted by the charismatic duo of Kopil Bora and Aimee Baruah, the evening was filled with excitement and anticipation.

Tora’s Husband wins best Assamese Film

One film, in particular, stole the spotlight at the awards ceremony – “Tora’s Husband.” This captivating tale not only clinched the coveted Best Film award but also earned recognition in several other categories. Director Rima Das, renowned for her innovative storytelling, received accolades for her exceptional vision, winning the Best Director title for “Tora’s Husband.”

Abhijit Das’s stellar performance in “Tora’s Husband” earned him the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) award, showcasing his remarkable talent and dedication to his craft. Meanwhile, Aimee Baruah’s captivating portrayal in “Rongatapu 1982” earned her the well-deserved title of Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female).

The creative minds behind the scenes were also duly recognized for their contributions to Assamese cinema. Anuradha Sarma Pujari’s captivating narrative in “Anur” secured her the Best Story award, while Rima Das’s impeccable screenplay for “Tora’s Husband” was celebrated with the Best Screenplay honor. Monjul Baruah shared the Best Dialogue award with Rima Das for their outstanding work in “Anur” and “Tora’s Husband,” respectively.

The technical brilliance of Assamese cinema was also showcased through awards for Best Cinematography, Editing, and Production Design. Pradi Daimary’s visual storytelling in “Raghav” earned him the Best Cinematography award, while Pratim Khaund’s deft editing in “Dr. Bezbaruah 2” was recognized with the Best Editing accolade. Jyoti Sangkar Bhattacharya and Dr. Akshata Narain’s meticulous production design in “Dr. Bezbaruah 2” was honored with the Best Production Design award.

The soul-stirring melodies of Assamese cinema were not forgotten, with awards for Best Lyrics, Music Album, and Playback Singers. Udhab Neog and Pankaj Mazumdar were honored for their lyrical brilliance in “Eti Nakhyatra,” while Zubeen Garg’s mesmerizing music in “The Slam Book” earned him the Best Music Album award. Rupam Bhuyan and Mahalakshmi Iyer were celebrated as the Best Playback Singers (Male) and (Female) respectively for their captivating renditions in “Eti Nakhyatra” and “Raghav.”

In a heartfelt moment, the legendary Ramen Baruah was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his invaluable contributions to the Assamese film industry.

The Filmfare Awards Assamese 2024 not only celebrated the past year’s cinematic achievements but also served as a testament to the rich talent and creativity thriving within the Assamese film fraternity. As the curtains closed on this remarkable evening, it left a lasting impression, inspiring filmmakers and audiences alike to continue pushing boundaries and exploring new horizons in Assamese cinema.
