Assamese Tech Executive Bhaskar Deka Recognized Among Top 100 Global Influencers in Technology

Bhaskar Deka, a highly accomplished technology executive originally from Assam and currently based in Silicon Valley, has received a significant honor. He has been recognized by the US-based publication “Human Resources Executive” as one of the Top 100 Global Technology Executives for the year.

This prestigious annual list features leading technology executives from renowned global companies like Google, Oracle, Disney, Facebook, SAP, and others. What makes this recognition even more remarkable is that Bhaskar Deka is one of only six individuals of Indian origin to make it onto this prestigious list, and he is the first Assamese to receive this distinguished honor.

The publication “Human Resources Executive” describes the individuals on this list as having a substantial impact on their respective industries across various fields, particularly in the realm of HR technology. The award ceremony to celebrate these accomplished executives will take place in Las Vegas during the second week of October.

Currently holding the position of Global Vice President (GVP) & General Manager and serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team at Cornerstone On Demand, a global leader in talent management software, Bhaskar Deka has a career marked by excellence. Cornerstone On Demand is a major player with multi-billion-dollar annual revenue and a global presence, including offices in India.

Bhaskar’s journey from his hometown of Guwahati to the global technology stage has been marked by outstanding academic achievements. He began by securing the third position in the High School Leaving Certificate examination and received the Assam Science Society award for achieving the highest combined marks in Mathematics, Science, and Assamese Literature. He continued his education at Cotton College and graduated with distinction in Computer Science and Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology. Subsequently, he earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science, specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems, from Boston University, USA. Bhaskar also holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, one of the world’s top 5 management institutes.

In addition to his impressive academic background, Bhaskar Deka has played pivotal roles as Chief Product and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Officer in three successful startups, which collectively achieved exits with a total value exceeding 1 billion dollars. These startups received funding from renowned Venture Capital firms, including SoftBank, Insight Partners, CrossLink Capital, and Bessemer Venture Partners. Bhaskar has also contributed as an advisor to several startups in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning sectors, as well as venture capital firms focused on AI technology investments.
